Happy Birthday to one of my favourite mum crushes Mrs VB! Starting her journey with the birth of Brooklyn Beckham in 1999, Spice Mum, a Runway Mum, a Garage Mum, an Elton Mum, a Wag Mum, an LA Mum, a FROW (front row) Mum, a Comeback Mum and most recently Fashionista Mum, whatever her style after nine incarnation, I have loved her all the way.
So, as the mum of 4 turns 40, I thought I’d round up some of the most iconic Victoria Beckham mummy fashion moments. Some of these outfits were ravishing, some of them were devastatingly awful, but I think the evolution of personal style between your 20s and 40s is natural. You establish a rhythm and understand your place in this world as a mother and a woman (I’d highly encourage reading Luella Bartley’s Guide to English Style that covers this fashion maturation well). Let’s give her a break! For Mrs VB, motherhood has never got in the way of her fashion sensibilities. She has the desire to reinvent herself seasonally and has changed her level of fashion spice from prawn cocktail to gourmet salt and kale; and I applaud her for that.

13. 2008 – Despite her solo consisting of strutting down a runway for 10 minutes, VB stole the show with the most cheers every night on the Spice Girls World Tour, by now she was a global superstar
14. 2008 – With mate Marc Jacobs at the CFDA awards VB began her journey in sleekdom
15. 2009 – You can take a girl out of Hertfordshire, but she’ll still want to wear a spotty mini dress with a train on the red carpet
16. 2009 – There are very few mums on the run who don vertiginous Louboutins for their adventures, but then there’s only one Victoria Beckham
17. 2009 – Off with those locks, here comes a mum crop in pixie packaging, my favourite VB hairstyle yet
18. 2009 – A date night spent in a studio for Armani signalled a change for VB, she was ready to become the queen of luxury fashion
19. 2010 – Posh does flats! that is all
20. 2010 – Swapping those skinnies for silk harem pants and suddenly this VB shows how chic relaxed tailoring can be
21. 2011 – The pregnant VB nailed chic maternity occasion wear in this navy trapeze dress from her eponymous label
22. 2011 – VB dones sumptuous casual maternity wear, I can only presume that was a fine cashmere – a great fabric for regulating body temperatures
23. 2012 – Showing off 3/4 of her brood at the panned Viva Forever musical, VB does ‘shoulder robing’
24. 2012 – Now a mum of 4 VB does paired back glamour oh so well at the Vanity Fair pre-Oscars party
25. 2012 – With her babydoll Harper at her side VB wears this head-turning orange and navy striped dress
26. 2012 – The Spice Girls were the highlight of the Olympics Closing Ceremony and VB did her best to channel her inner posh in this amazing Zac Posen dress
27. 2013 – VB nails easy workwear glamour, updating a timeless combination of skinny jeans and a silk shirt with punchy leopard print heels
28. 2013 – I loved this fresh combo of Dolce & Gabanna fresco with funky wedges, a classic white cotton shirt and a cutsey baby
29. 2013 – Any mum would be proud to have their handsome eldest child as their date for a prestigious award, sappy stuff over this oversized strapless jumpsuit was everything directional and stylish
30. 2013 – In her version of slummy mummy VB pairs sky high Manolo boots with her sweater and jeans outfit
